A brand new 5 Ton capability Ice Plant was inaugurated by Mr. G. Sudhakar, IAS, Secretary (Fisheries), A&N Administration right now at Chunnabhatta within the presence of Ms. V.Okay. Mariyam Bibi, Zilla Parishad Member, Hope Town, Ms. Rashida Bibi, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Hope Town, Mr. Subbaraj, Executive Engineer, Road Construction Division, APWD.
Speaking on the event, the Secretary (Fisheries) expressed his happiness in fulfilling the lengthy pending requirement of the fishermen of Panighat and adjoining areas. He emphasised that the provision of ice will assist in enhancing the fish catch by enabling long-duration fishing and shall cut back post-harvest losses, which is able to assist in the advance of the socio-economic situation of the fishermen of the world. The constructing for the Ice plant was constructed by APWD whereas the Plant & Machinery was put in by the Fisheries Department. The commissioned Plant will produce 120 blocks of Ice at a time and can cater to the native requirement of the world.
He additionally appreciated the efforts of the Fisheries Department and APWD within the profitable completion of the mission and directed the Department to make sure steady provide of ice to the fishermen.
