In a serious increase to native poultry farmers, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services (AH&VS) has revived its Hatchery Unit in Car Nicobar, addressing months of disruption induced primarily by irregular energy provide.
The hatchery, earlier positioned at CLP Arong, had been non-functional for a number of months, severely affecting the livelihoods of tribal farmers who depend on a gentle provide of day-old chicks. Responding to rising calls for from the farming group and beneath the directive of the Secretary (AH&VS), the unit has now been briefly relocated to a constructing in Perka, offered by the Department of Agriculture.
The reinstallation was marked by a small ceremony on April 17, attended by the Village Captain of Perka, Mr. Mathew, together with officers from each the Agriculture and AH&VS departments.
“We are thrilled to see the Hatchery Unit up and running again,” mentioned Mr. Mathew. “This will not only boost the local poultry farming industry but also provide a much-needed service to the community.”
