Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Member of Parliament from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, has referred to as on the Union Territory administration to take fast steps for the early disposal of long-pending land conversion and diversion functions, citing their essential significance to improvement and livelihood within the islands.
In a proper communication to the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of the A&N Islands, the MP highlighted that regardless of clear directions from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), there was little progress in clearing the backlog of instances. “The standstill continues, leaving applicants and stakeholders in a state of uncertainty, unable to move ahead with their planned development projects,” he stated in a written assertion.
Mr. Ray famous that he had beforehand raised the difficulty with the Hon’ble Prime Minister and the Hon’ble Union Home Minister. Responding to his considerations, Mr. Nityanand Rai, Minister of State for Home Affairs, clarified through a letter (DO No. U-14035/16/2025/ANL dated May 20, 2025) that the duty for taking vital motion rests with the UT Administration. The letter additional said that the MHA has already directed the A&N Administration to make sure the well timed decision of all pending instances.
The MP pressured that swift processing of those functions is important to facilitate infrastructure improvement, entice non-public funding, help housing initiatives, and supply different important companies that rely on land approvals.
Ray urged the UT Administration to honour the directives issued by the MHA and take decisive motion to resolve the matter on the earliest.
