Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Hon’ble Member of Parliament from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, has urged the Union Minister for Railways, Mr. Ashwini Vaishnav, to deal with the rising issues of unemployed youth within the islands by conducting railway recruitment drives and establishing an examination centre domestically.
In his communication to the Minister, Ray identified that in earlier years, recruitment examinations carried out by the Railways opened up vital employment alternatives for islanders. However, no such drives have been held lately, leaving aspirants from the islands at a drawback.
The MP highlighted that the absence of an area examination centre forces candidates to journey to the mainland, resulting in heavy monetary burdens. Many certified youth, he stated, are unable to afford the journey and lodging bills, thereby lacking the chance to take part within the choice course of.
Emphasizing the geographical isolation and restricted employment avenues within the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Ray underscored the urgency of corrective measures. He has requested the Ministry to not solely conduct recruitment drives within the islands but in addition to arrange a everlasting examination centre at Sri Vijaya Puram.
