Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, has efficiently taken up the long-standing demand of villagers underneath Nilambur Gram Panchayat for higher healthcare services at Jarawa Creek, Baratang. The MP approached the Health Department for the development of a brand new Health & Wellness Centre at an estimated value of Rs. 2.20 crore, in accordance with IPHS norms.
Earlier, a proposal of Rs. 71.12 lakh had been submitted for the restore or reconstruction of the present Sub-Centre at Jarawa Creek. However, Mr. Ray highlighted that the present centre, positioned on a hillock, poses important difficulties for sufferers, significantly senior residents, in accessing healthcare companies. Repairing the outdated facility, he argued, wouldn’t adequately handle the villagers’ wants.
Taking into consideration the MP’s suggestion and the real hardships confronted by the native inhabitants, the Health Department has included the proposal for a brand new Health & Wellness Centre within the Action Plan for 2025–2026. The development work will probably be undertaken by the APWD, topic to fund availability.
On behalf of the residents of Nilambur Gram Panchayat, Mr. Ray expressed gratitude to the A&N Administration for addressing this long-pending grievance and facilitating improved healthcare entry for the individuals of Jarawa Creek.
