Childhood pneumonia stays the main infectious reason behind demise amongst youngsters below the age of 5 in India, accounting for 16.3 % of complete under-five deaths. Observed yearly on November 12, World Pneumonia Day goals to boost consciousness and speed up motion to stop and deal with this life-threatening illness.
As a part of the observance, the SAANS (Social Awareness & Action to Neutralize Pneumonia Successfully) marketing campaign shall be carried out from November 12, 2025, to February 28, 2026. The initiative focuses on strengthening the well being system and enhancing group consciousness to scale back the burden of childhood pneumonia.
The SAANS marketing campaign 2025-26 will run with the tagline “Pneumonia Nahi, Toh Bachpan Sahi” — underscoring the significance of a pneumonia-free childhood for wholesome development and growth.
Health authorities have appealed to the general public to increase their full cooperation to ANMs (Auxiliary Nurse Midwives) and ASHAs (Accredited Social Health Activists) throughout group outreach efforts. Their help is essential for early identification and well timed administration of pneumonia instances amongst under-five youngsters.
