With the goal of offering a vibrant advertising and marketing platform for rural ladies, a ‘SHG Hunar Haat – Celebrating Rural Skills and Indigenous Tribal Spirit’ was organized on May 2 at Kamorta below the Nancowry Block.
The occasion noticed energetic participation from Self-Help Group (SHG) members from Kamorta and close by Nancowry Islands, who arrange stalls displaying a variety of domestically produced gadgets. The exhibition featured conventional and ethnic meals gadgets, picket crafts, handmade cutlery, and different indigenous merchandise, reflecting the wealthy cultural heritage and craftsmanship of the Nicobar area.
Organized below the aegis of the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY-NRLM), the initiative aimed to reinforce market visibility, increase gross sales alternatives, and promote sustainable livelihoods for rural ladies entrepreneurs.
Inaugurating the programme, Assistant Commissioner, Nancowry, Dr. Kshitij Gyanraj appreciated the efforts of SHG members in preserving conventional expertise whereas strengthening grassroots entrepreneurship.
The Hunar Haat obtained an encouraging response from the general public, with complete gross sales exceeding ₹25,000 through the day, indicating rising help for domestically made merchandise. The occasion was attended by officers, native residents, and group members.
