Port Blair: Former Andaman & Nicobar Islands chief secretary Jitendra Narain was on Friday remanded to police custody until Monday, November 14, in an alleged gang-rape case filed by a 21-year-old girl towards him and others.
The judgement was pronounced by the chief judicial Justice of the Peace of Port Blair after he was produced in court docket. Police sought remand to proceed their probe towards him and different co-accused who’re but to be apprehended within the case which has rocked the island territory.
The police on Thursday had arrested the senior IAS officer after his plea for anticipatory bail was rejected by an area court docket.
Soon after the decision, a crew of policemen reached a personal resort the place Narain was staying and took him to the Police Line amid heavy safety.
