Suspended Andaman and Nicobar Labour Commissioner R.L. Rishi was on Monday arrested in reference to the gangrape of a 21-year-old girl, police stated.
Mr. Rishi arrived right here aboard a flight from Chennai round 1 p.m., and was taken into custody by the Andaman and Nicobar Police, they stated.
So far, three accused have been arrested within the case, together with former Andaman and Nicobar Chief Secretary Jitendra Narain and Sandeep Singh alias Rinku, a Port Blair-based businessman.
A particular investigation crew (SIT) was constituted to probe allegations that the girl was lured to the Chief Secretary’s house with the promise a authorities job, after which gangraped.
The SIT has already questioned Mr. Narain thrice.
The Andaman and Nicobar Police had on November 2 introduced a reward of ₹1 lakh every for offering data on Mr. Singh and Mr. Rishi.
