The State President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Ajoy Bairagi, together with State Secretary Dr. R. Dev Das, met the Chief Secretary of the A&N Administration not too long ago to spotlight the challenges confronted by the native fisheries sector.
During the assembly, the BJP leaders urged the Administration to implement the Central Government’s subsidy scheme—prolonged by the Ministry of Fisheries—for electrical energy and diesel consumption within the fisheries and aquaculture sectors. They particularly requested that the subsidy be offered on par with the advantages already prolonged to the agriculture sector within the islands. Responding promptly, the Chief Secretary directed the Department of Fisheries to take speedy motion to increase subsidy advantages on electrical energy and gas to these concerned in fisheries and aquaculture.
