Mr. Anil Kumar Tiwari, State President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, has written to the Hon’ble Lt. Governor requesting a rise within the pension offered to previous aged, widows and divyang beneficiaries within the Islands.
In his letter, Mr. Tiwari highlighted his interactions with numerous organisations and pension beneficiaries, noting that the current pension quantity of ₹2,500 per 30 days is insufficient to fulfill primary wants, particularly in view of the rising price of dwelling within the Islands.
Describing the state of affairs as “impossible for the marginalised sections to survive” beneath the present charges, Mr. Tiwari urged the Lt. Governor to sympathetically contemplate the plight of those weak teams and improve the pension to ₹5,000 per 30 days.
He said that such a step would go a good distance in addressing the a number of challenges confronted by poor and marginalised households within the Islands.
