Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata has known as for an Expression of Interest for the Development, Operation and Maintenance of Phase-I of the International Container Transhipment Port at Galathea Bay in Great Nicobar.
In the primary part of growth, the next key port amenities are proposed within the EoI:
1. Two Breakwaters of about 3Km size.
2. A navigational channel of 400m broad and a turning circle of 800 m diameter.
3. About 125 Ha of Reclaimed Land for growth of container yard and different allied infrastructure amenities like terminal buildings, workshops and so on.
4. Total container berth size of about 2.3 km
5. RMQCs on berths, RTGs in container yard and different container dealing with tools.
6. Onshore utilities like Water provide, fire-fighting system, drainage, sewerage system, Power Supply and distribution system, IT infrastructure and so on.
There can also be a provision to develop two liquid cargo berths to assist bunkering operations, Ship restore amenities, FTWZ and so on.
The general capital value for the Phase-I growth of the proposed transhipment port is estimated to be round INR 18,000 crores which incorporates the development of breakwaters, dredging, reclamation, berths, storage areas, constructing and utilities, procurement and set up of kit and growth of the port colony.
