The Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC) has mounted a robust opposition to the proposed electrical energy tariff hike, whereas additionally sharply criticising the Administration for the prevailing energy disaster in South Andaman.
During a public listening to organised by the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) on the DBRAIT Auditorium, ANTCC President Mr. Rangalal Halder and Campaign Committee Chairman Mr. TSG Bhasker lambasted the Electricity Department’s transfer to burden customers with increased tariffs regardless of persistent service shortcomings.
Earlier within the day, on August 13, 2025, the Congress Party held a press convention the place its leaders denounced the Administration for making an attempt to lift tariffs at a time when the Electricity Department has been unable to supply sufficient energy provide to residents and companies.
Several Congress leaders and PRI members from South Andaman joined the protest, condemning each the tariff proposal and the persevering with energy shortages.
