Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata has referred to as for an Expression of Interest for the Development, Operation and Maintenance of Phase-I of the International Container Transhipment Port At Galathea Bay in Great Nicobar.
The due date for the EoI is seventh March 2023. The EoI doc states that the Environmental Clearance for the 4 tasks to be developed in Great Nicobar viz. Port, Airport, Township & Power Plant has been accorded.
The EoI states that SMPK in affiliation with ANIIDCO proposes to develop the port ideally by way of Landlord mode whereby the frequent/primary infrastructure could also be developed by the “Authority” & the Concessionaire shall be accountable for the design, Construction / Procurement, finance, operation & upkeep of proposed Container Handling Equipment, Container Yard, Onshore Utilities and many others. required for Phase-I improvement of the ICTP, beneath a long-term concession by SMPK.
The EoI additionally states {that a} Green Field Airport (4000 Peak Hour Passengers-PHP) will likely be developed concurrently with the Port.
The first section of the venture could be developed to deal with site visitors of 4 MTEUs within the 12 months 2028, within the final stage of improvement the port will have the ability to deal with 16 MTEUs by the 12 months 2058.
In the primary section of improvement, the next key port amenities are proposed within the EoI:
1. Two Breakwaters of about 3Km size.
2. A navigational channel of 400m vast and a turning circle of 800 m diameter.
3. About 125 Ha of Reclaimed Land for improvement of container yard and
4. different allied infrastructure amenities like terminal buildings, workshops and many others.
5. Total container berth size of about 2.3 km
6. RMQCs on berths, RTGs in container yard and different container dealing with tools.
7. Onshore utilities like Water provide, fire-fighting system, drainage, sewerage system, Power Supply and distribution system, IT infrastructure and many others.
There can be a provision to develop two liquid cargo berths to assist bunkering operations, Ship restore amenities, FTWZ and many others.
The general estimated capital price for the Phase-I improvement of the proposed transhipment port is estimated to be round INR 18,000 crores which incorporates the development of breakwaters, dredging, reclamation, berths, storage areas, constructing and utilities, procurement and set up of kit and improvement of the port colony.
