An FIR has been registered at Police Station Bambooflat in opposition to the involved snorkelling workforce at North Bay following the loss of life of a 74-year-old vacationer, allegedly on account of negligence and violation of snorkelling security pointers.
According to the assertion recorded within the FIR, Surya Prakash Singh Baghel (47 years), a resident of Sanjay Nagar Morar, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, and an Assistant Commissioner in GST, Jabalpur, was visiting North Bay together with his household on 22 April 2025. His household included his father Mahavir Singh Baghel (74 years), mom Kamla Baghel (71 years), spouse Archana Baghel (37 years), daughter Anirug Avani Singh (12 years), and son Agni Rudh Singh (10 years).
At roughly 2:30 PM, the household participated in snorkelling at North Bay. Following the exercise, Mr. Mahavir Singh Baghel (74 years) started experiencing issue in respiratory. The Tourist Safety Enforcement Team positioned him in a speedboat and transported the household to Marine Jetty, from the place he was taken by ambulance to GB Pant Hospital. At round 3:30 PM, Mahavir Singh Baghel handed away.
The FIR notes that the incident occurred as a result of sudden deterioration of the well being situation of the deceased. The assertion was recorded at GB Pant Hospital at 6:30 PM within the presence of Mrs. Kamla Baghel, the deceased’s spouse.
The FIR additional states that the involved snorkelling workforce at North Bay violated the rules, which prohibit people above 60 years of age from taking part in snorkelling actions. Based on this violation, the FIR was registered suomotu by SHO Rizwan Hassan of PS Bambooflat below Sections 106(1), 223, and three(5) of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
