The District Administration of Nicobar, in collaboration with the Tribal Council, Integrated Tribal Development Project (ITDP), and the Rural Development Department, organised the first-ever ‘Tribal Haat’ in Campbell Bay on Saturday.
The occasion was inaugurated by Assistant Commissioner Dr. Keshav Singh and Block Development Officer Shekhar Rai, within the presence of Barnabas Manju, Chairman of the Tribal Council for Great and Little Nicobar Islands.
The Tribal Haat featured stalls arrange by tribal Self-Help Groups (SHGs), showcasing regionally made merchandise comparable to virgin coconut oil, the normal Nicobari hodi (canoe), hand-embroidered pillows, bamboo and cane baskets, and quite a lot of vegetables and fruit.
