In a major breakthrough, an anti-poaching operation led to the apprehension of 5 further international poachers close to Loha Tikrey, falling below the jurisdiction of PS Kalighat. The operation, carried out by a devoted group of regulation enforcement officers, has additional bolstered efforts to fight unlawful poaching actions within the area.
Under the supervision of Inspector Anirudra Mondal, a group comprising Sub-Inspector Dhiraj Kishan, Head Constables Khokan Ch. Das, Alaxander, Constables Rakesh Chander Rathore, Raj Kamal, and Police Constables Elazier and P.Okay Mohd. Zunaid was deployed to conduct the anti-poaching operation close to Loha Tikrey. The group, beforehand profitable in apprehending 11 international poachers, intensified their search each at sea and on land within the space.
On July 12, 2023, throughout their in depth search, the group noticed suspicious motion of poachers in two engine dinghies close to Loha Tikrey. Acting swiftly, the group signalled the poachers to cease. However, upon noticing the regulation enforcement officers, the poachers tried to flee. Undeterred, the courageous anti-poaching group risked their lives in pursuit and efficiently apprehended 5 international poachers. Furthermore, they seized two engine dinghies loaded with a considerable amount of sea cucumber and different survival articles.
Following their seize, all apprehended poachers have been dropped at PS Kalighat for additional investigation. They will subsequently be handed over to PS CCS for continued scrutiny. The operation, carried out below the supervision of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, SP (D) N&MA, marks a major achievement within the ongoing battle towards unlawful poaching within the area.
