In a show of exceptional valour and swift motion, the Indian Coast Guard Ship C-145 executed a commendable rescue operation on twenty eighth July 2023, saving the lives of three fishermen who had been stranded within the treacherous open sea, roughly 30 kilometres away from Diglipur harbour.
The brave rescue mission unfolded when the fishermen from Shantinagar village in Diglipur set sail at 0630 hours on July 28 aboard their fishing boat, IFB B Gauri. However, their routine fishing expedition took a harrowing flip when each engines of the boat malfunctioned amidst tough seas, leaving them helplessly adrift. The scenario worsened because the boat started to flood, ultimately main it to sink at 1630 hours.
For nearly an hour, the three fishermen fought for his or her lives, sporting lifejackets to remain afloat till they caught the eye of the vigilant crew aboard ICGS C-145. The Coast Guard ship was on a routine surveillance mission off Table Island once they noticed the distressed fishermen.
Despite going through daunting sea circumstances, characterised by towering waves, highly effective winds, and the approaching sundown, the crew of ICGS C-145 rapidly mobilised to rescue the stranded fishermen. With immense ability and braveness, the Coast Guard personnel executed a flawless rescue operation, pulling every exhausted fisherman out of the water. The rescuers put their very own lives in danger to make sure the secure retrieval of the distressed people.
Following well-rehearsed rescue methods, the Coast Guard personnel introduced every fisherman onboard the ship. Once safely aboard, the rescued fishermen obtained much-needed medical consideration and care to deal with their bodily exhaustion and ordeal at sea.
With the profitable rescue operation concluded, ICGS C-145 steered in direction of Diglipur harbour, the place the grateful fishermen had been handed over to native authorities for additional administration and assist.
