Japanese digital elements maker TDK Corp will manufacture lithium ion (li-ion) battery cells for Apple iPhone fashions in India, a minister stated on Monday.
Apple has been touting India as its subsequent huge development driver because it seems to maneuver some manufacturing away from China.
It started assembling iPhone fashions within the nation in 2017 by Wistron and later Foxconn, and has a complete of 14 suppliers in India.
TDK will arrange a producing facility within the northern state of Haryana, creating a number of thousand new jobs, Deputy Minister for Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar stated on social media platform X, previously generally known as Twitter.

The information was first reported by Business Standard on Sunday.
Cells manufactured on the facility might be equipped to Apple’s li-ion battery assembler Sunwoda Electronics, the report added.
Apple and TDK Corp didn’t instantly reply to Reuters’ request for remark.
Back in September, an govt at Apple provider Foxconn stated that the producer aimed to double its workforce and funding in India by subsequent 12 months.
