The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, in collaboration with Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), has launched an intensive outreach initiative below Mission D-JAY(S) to deal with the occupational, social, and residential vulnerabilities of city poor communities throughout the nation.
According to the operational pointers, the District Level Committee (DLC), chaired by the District Magistrate or District Collector and supported by the District Mission Management Unit (DMMU), will oversee and information the implementation of Mission actions on the area degree. The Committee will even guarantee convergence with varied Government schemes designed for the welfare of the city poor.
Mission D-JAY(S) adopts a holistic and inclusive method, specializing in six recognized Vulnerable Occupational Groups (VOGs) — home staff, waste staff, development staff, gig staff, care staff, and transportation staff. These embody a variety of professions reminiscent of watchmen, cooks, sweepers, electricians, plumbers, supply brokers, Anganwadi staff, and auto-rickshaw drivers, amongst others.
The Mission goals to empower these teams by strengthening group establishments, selling livelihood and employment alternatives, bettering entry to social infrastructure, making certain social safety and entitlements, and inspiring innovation and collaboration for sustainable city livelihoods.
