Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, Andaman and Nicobar Islands has requested the Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands to suggest to the Central Government to call three Islands of the UT of Andaman and Nicobar Islands within the identify of Martyr Captain Ashim Kumar Bhattacharjee, Martyr Ramesh Singh and Martyr M. Dilli Rao.
Martyr Captain Ashim Kumar Bhattacharjee, Martyr Ramesh Singh and Martyr M. Dilli Rao are all from Andaman and Nicobar Islands and have laid down their lives within the service of the nation.
In his letter addressed to the Lt. Governor, Mr. Sharma has hailed the current naming of the 21 Islands of UT of Andaman and Nicobar Islands in identify of the 21 Param Vir Chakra Awardees. Mr. Sharma termed the choice as a becoming tribute to the courageous troopers of India who laid down their lives for the nation.
Martyr Captain Ashim Kumar Bhattacharjee, a courageous youth from Andaman and Nicobar Islands, laid down his life preventing militants in Jammu & Kashmir on twentieth July 2000.
Martyr Ramesh Singh was in Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) 85 Battalion and he misplaced his life on twentieth October 1996 at Phoruchak, Kashmir, whereas preventing in opposition to terrorists. He suffered 36 bullet accidents.
Martyr M. Dilli Rao, Gunner of 51 Field Regiment (Artillery), one other courageous youth of those Islands, laid down his life preventing insurgents in Assam on thirteenth July 2002.
Mr. Sharma talked about that naming three Islands within the names of those three Martyrs belonging to the Islands will likely be a becoming tribute to them.
