The Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs is organising an open Sea Swimming Competition from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose (Ross Island) to Rajiv Gandhi Water Sports Complex, Aberdeen Jetty, Port Blair on March 18 below varied classes viz. Men’s Open (18 years to 50 years), Men’s Open (50 years to 60 years), Men’s Open (60 years to 70 years), Women’s Open (18 years and above), Above 12 to 18 years Boys and Above 12 to 18 years Girls and above 70 years.
The 1st place can be awarded a money prize of Rs. 50,000/- with a trophy, 2nd place can be awarded a money prize of Rs. 30,000/- with a trophy and 2nd Runner-up can be awarded a money prize of Rs. 20,000/- with a trophy. Participants who end nicely in time can be awarded comfort prize cash of Rs.1000/-.
Interested individuals keen to take part have been requested to register their names for the Swimming competitors. They have been requested to gather the entry type & indemnity Bond from the Office of the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Netaji Stadium, Port Blair, by fifteenth March. The Medical check-up for the registered individuals/swimmers for all classes can be held at DHS, Port Blair, until fifteenth March 2023. The final date for submitting the entry type together with the indemnity bond & medical health certificates is fifteenth March 2023 by 5 pm. The Swimming trial can be carried out on sixteenth March 2023, from 3 pm to six pm on the Swimming Pool, Netaji Stadium, Port Blair. After the Swimming trial, the briefing session can be carried out by Dr. V. Selvam, Chief Referee on the Swimming Pool.
