Displaying exemplary braveness and professionalism, the Police Marine Force (PMF) Rangat efficiently rescued a stranded fishing trawler, MV Sarveshwaran (Reg. No. IND-AN-SA-MM-2059), with 5 crew members onboard after it suffered an engine failure off Rangat Bay on Monday.
At round 3:50 pm, PMF Rangat acquired a misery alert relayed by the Fisheries Department, Nimbutala, reporting that the vessel was adrift and in pressing want of help. Acting swiftly, a PMF rescue workforce led by SI (Master) Abdul Lathief together with HCs Samson and C. Samsudeen, set out aboard Fast Interceptor Boat MV Suntook at 4:10 pm to conduct the Search and Rescue (SAR) operation.
Despite tough seas, heavy rains, and squally winds, the rescue workforce pressed forward, sustaining fixed vigilance whereas navigating treacherous waters. After a scientific search, the distressed trawler was positioned round 4.5 nautical miles from Rangat Bay jetty at roughly 5:15 pm.
The crew of Sarveshwaran was given fast first help earlier than PMF personnel started the difficult job of towing the disabled vessel again to harbour. Braving antagonistic climate, the workforce displayed exceptional seamanship and resilience, finally bringing the trawler safely to Rangat Bay Harbour, the place it was anchored securely on the Inner Harbour.
