Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, has prolonged his heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Hon’ble Home Minister, and the Andaman & Nicobar Administration for offering much-needed aid to unemployed youths of the Islands. The Administration has determined to proceed the prevailing higher age limits of 33 years for male and 38 years for feminine candidates for recruitment to Group-C posts in all departments beneath the A&N Administration.
The resolution follows the persistent demand raised by Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray earlier than the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Hon’ble Home Minister, and the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of the Union Territory on July 26, 2025. Mr. Ray additionally personally met the Hon’ble Prime Minister on August 23, 2025, to press for the continuation of age rest.
It could also be recalled that the draft Recruitment Rules had proposed fixing the higher age restrict at 27 years for Group-C posts, a transfer strongly opposed by Mr. Ray. He argued that such a discount would severely restrict employment alternatives for Island youths and emphasised the necessity for parity with Union Territory of Ladakh, the place the age restrict is 40 years. Following his intervention, the Administration has reconsidered the matter and retained the prevailing age standards as per Notification No. 41/06/F.No.16-6/93-PW dated 07.03.2006.
