The Director (Disaster Management), Dr. Nitin Shakya, reviewed the hearth/life security measures and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of cinema theatres of Port Blair for strengthening security measures for the viewers within the Cinema Theatres. The overview was held within the chamber of the Director on 1st February 2023, with the representatives of Cinema Theatres of A & N Islands and Officers of NDRF, A & N Police, A & N Police Fire Services and Health Department.
The Directorate of Disaster Management will likely be conducting Mock Drills in all cinema halls of Port Blair City in coordination with Cinema Theatres Owners, Officers of NDRF, A & N Police, A & N Police Fire Services, Health Department and District Administration. The Mock Drills will likely be performed to verify & take a look at the contingency plan, SOPs and security measures taken by cinema halls for audiences in case of any incident/disaster/catastrophe. The plan can be to sensitise the audiences/public about Do’s & Don’ts and protected evacuation in case of varied catastrophe particularly fireplace, medical emergencies, earthquake and so on.
