As a part of the continued TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, a complete Sensitization Training on Tuberculosis (TB) Screening for susceptible populations was carried out on July 12, 2025, on the Conference Hall of the BDO Office, Car Nicobar. The initiative was held underneath the path of Mr. Amit Kale, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District.
The session was led by Dr. Anwar Moosa, District TB Officer and TB Programme Lead for Nicobar District, who carried out an in-depth PowerPoint presentation on TB screening protocols and techniques for reaching susceptible communities. The coaching noticed the lively participation of Mr. Muneer Ahmed, Assistant Commissioner (HQ), Car Nicobar; Dr. Grace (NFSG), Medical Superintendent (I/c), BJR Hospital; in addition to the Medical Officer, District Programme Coordinator (DPC), PMDT Coordinator, Accountant, CHOs, and ANMs from BJR Hospital.
Assistant Commissioners from Nancowrie and Campbell Bay, Mr. Aditya Sangotra and Mr. Keshav Narendra Singh respectively, joined the session by video conferencing together with their respective groups comprising Medical Officers, STSs, STLS, TBHV, CHOs, and ANMs.
During the session, Dr. Moosa offered detailed steering on each Passive Case Finding (PCF) at well being services and Active Case Finding (ACF) by community-based outreach. He emphasised the identification of high-risk teams comparable to family TB contacts, individuals dwelling with HIV (PLHIV), malnourished kids, diabetics, the aged, and immunocompromised people. The coaching additionally lined diagnostic approaches, together with using Chest X-rays and Nucleic Acid Amplification Testing (NAAT), together with methods for follow-up screening each six months and alternate options for distant populations.
All three Assistant Commissioners assured their full cooperation within the district-wide TB elimination efforts and pledged to offer logistical help and supervision, even in hard-to-reach areas of Nicobar.
