Red Bull introduced Wednesday that Mexican driver Sergio Perez has departed the Formula One group after 4 seasons. Perez, 34, joined Red Bull in 2021 and helped the group earn two constructors’ titles and accomplished a drivers’ standing one-two with four-time world champion team-mate Max Verstappen in 2023. “I would like to thank Checo (Perez) for all he has done for Oracle Red Bull Racing over the past four seasons,” Red Bull group principal Christian Horner stated in a press release. “From the second he joined in 2021 he proved himself to be a rare group participant, serving to us to 2 Constructors’ titles and to our first 1-2 end within the Drivers’ championship.
“While Checo will not race for the team next season, he will always be an extremely popular team member and a treasured part of our history. Thank you, Checo.”
Perez gained 5 Grands Prix in Red Bull colors, together with a victory on the Monaco GP and a double in Azerbaijan.
However, his type dipped within the 2024 season resulting in rumours about his future within the group.
He got here eighth within the drivers’ standings as Red Bull surrendered their group title to McLaren with a third-placed end.
“I’m incredibly grateful for the past four years with Oracle Red Bull Racing and for the opportunity to race with such an amazing team,” Perez stated.
“Driving for Red Bull has been an unforgettable experience and I’ll always cherish the successes we achieved together.
“A giant thanks to each particular person within the group… I want you all the very best for the long run.
“It has also been an honour to race alongside Max as a teammate all these years and to share in our success.”
Red Bull added of their assertion that “announcements regarding the team’s full 2025 line-up will be made in due course”.
New Zealander Liam Lawson is taken into account the favorite to switch Perez.
