The Chairman of the Campaign Committee of the Andaman and Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC), Mr. TSG Bhasker, has raised considerations over discrepancies between voter lists ready for the Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) elections and people used for the Member of Parliament (MP) elections throughout the Union Territory.
In a letter submitted to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Mr. Bhasker identified that a number of voters registered in a single electoral roll are lacking from one other, regardless of residing in the identical ward or locality.
“It has come to our notice that many voters listed under the PRI elections are missing from the MP election rolls in the same ward. This is a severe lapse in the voter registration system and must be addressed urgently,” Mr. Bhasker acknowledged in his communication.
He cited cases from areas similar to Burmachad and 20 Family in Diglipur Tehsil, the place names seem within the MP electoral roll however are absent from the PRI roll. Similar inconsistencies, he added, have additionally been noticed in municipal areas.
The ANTCC chief has provided to submit documented proof of the anomalies and urged the Election Office to provoke corrective measures on the earliest. With PRI elections scheduled for March 2027, he harassed the necessity for rapid motion to safeguard the voting rights of residents.
Concluding his letter, Mr. Bhasker appealed to the Chief Electoral Officer to make sure that no voter is disenfranchised as a result of administrative lapses.
