In a major crackdown on unlawful actions, on February 10, 2025, performing on particular intelligence acquired from a dependable supply, a police group from PS Crime & Economic Offence seized over 6 kg of ganja, resulting in the arrest of two people.
The operation was carried out by a group comprising Inspector Girish Kumar, SHO, PS Crime & Economic Offence, SI Moideen Kutty, ASI Mohd. Rafique, Head Constable Sanjay Kujur & Ok. Venkateshwar Rao, and Constable Ok. Rajendran, together with Constable Bala Subramanium, Police Photographer, underneath the supervision of Dy.SP (CID).
The group intercepted an auto-rickshaw (AN 01 R 0584) at Bimblitan Chowk pushed by Animesh Ezzeddar, 35, son of Ashok Ezzeddar, a resident of Jodakalan, Garacharma, and a everlasting resident of Nabagram, Kalighat. Upon looking out the automobile, the group seized 4.290 kg of ganja hid within the auto-rickshaw. Animesh Ezzeddar was arrested on the spot following due authorized process, and a case underneath related sections of the NDPS Act, 1985, was registered at PS Crime & Economic Offence.
Subsequently, the investigation led to the arrest of P. Mohammed Puhari, 50, son of Late Peer Sultan, proprietor of M/s Boat Builder, Jodakalan, and a resident of Teylarabad, reverse Primary School. The police recovered an extra 2.025 kg of ganja from his possession.
The total operation was carried out underneath the command of Dy.SP (CID) and general supervision of Mr. Jitendra Kumar Meena, IPS, SSP (CID).
Both accused, Animesh Ezzeddar and P. Mohammed Puhari, have earlier involvement in drug peddling, with instances registered towards them underneath the NDPS Act at PS Kalighat and PS Crime & Economic Offence.
