A two-day coaching programme on “Value Addition of Agricultural Produce (Flowers)” was organised by the Department of Agriculture, Rangat, in affiliation with UTATMA, beneath farmer-oriented actions on the Panchayat Hall, Kausalya Nagar, on January 30 and 31.
The programme was inaugurated by Mr. George Kujur, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Kausalya Nagar, who attended the occasion because the Chief Guest. Addressing the members, he urged Self-Help Group (SHG) members and ladies farmers to make optimum use of the coaching to enhance their livelihoods by way of value-added agricultural practices.
At the outset, Ms. Shirly Thomas, Assistant Director (Agriculture), highlighted the significance and future prospects of worth addition in flowers. She inspired SHG members and ladies farmers to take up the cultivation of varied flowers and decorative vegetation, stating that talent improvement on this sector may open new avenues for earnings era.
During the technical session, Ms. Saraswati Sutradhar, Agriculture Assistant, supplied detailed insights into the bundle of practices for lower flowers equivalent to Heliconia, Torch Ginger and Alpinia. The session targeted on scientific cultivation strategies and greatest practices to boost productiveness and market worth.
The coaching additionally included hands-on demonstrations on getting ready flat bouquets, spherical bouquets and garlands. A complete of 20 SHG members and ladies farmers participated within the programme, gaining sensible publicity to flower-based worth addition strategies.
In addition, a field-level demonstration on post-harvest administration of spices, together with cinnamon bark extraction (peeling and processing), was carried out on January 30 on the subject of Mr. Ajit Mondal in Urmilapur village beneath Gram Panchayat Urmilapur.
