On the eve of the 74th Republic Day, the federal government of India introduced that the SRD Prasad, Sanathoiba Sharma and Gurcharan Singh can be conferred with the Padma Shri awards. The likes of Kalaripayattu grasp SRD Prasad, Thang Ta guru Ok Sanathoiba Sharma, former cricketer and veteran cricket coach Gurcharan Singh can be honoured with the Padma Shri for distinguished service of their respective fields of sports activities. The President of India on Wednesday authorized the conferment of 106 Padma Awards, amongst which three have been awarded to sportspersons.
The Awards are given in varied disciplines and fields of actions reminiscent of artwork, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, commerce and trade, medication, literature and schooling, sports activities, civil service.
‘Padma Vibhushan’ is awarded for distinctive and distinguished service; ‘Padma Bhushan’ for excellent service of excessive order and ‘Padma Shri’ for distinguished service in a particular discipline.
The awards are introduced on the event of Republic Day yearly. The awards are conferred by the President of India at ceremonial features that are held at Rashtrapati Bhawan often round March and April yearly.
