In a heartfelt tribute to the braveness and sacrifice of Martyr Sub-Inspector Sanjeev, recipient of the Kirti Chakra, the Nicobar District Police organized a Women’s Volleyball Knockout Tournament that concluded on 1st August 2025. The event aimed to foster neighborhood engagement and promote sportsmanship whereas honouring the legacy of the courageous officer who laid down his life throughout rescue operations within the 2004 tsunami.
The occasion was inaugurated by Mr. Rahul L. Nair, Superintendent of Police, Nicobar District, on thirtieth July 2025. A complete of 11 groups from throughout the Nicobar District participated, demonstrating distinctive enthusiasm and sporting spirit.
The remaining match was performed between groups from Mus Village and Chuckchuka Village within the gracious presence of Mr. Amit Kale, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District. The event not solely celebrated athletic expertise but additionally served as a platform to strengthen police-public relations by means of the spirit of remembrance and unity.
In a poignant second following the ultimate match, the household of SI Sanjeev, Kirti Chakra, was honoured in recognition of his supreme sacrifice. Both the profitable and runner-up groups have been felicitated with Commendation Certificates (Class-II) and money prizes.
