07 Myanmarese Poachers Apprehended by ANC from Barren Island on twenty fifth January 2023

ICGS Rajkiran on her routine patrol on twenty second January 2023, to the Northern Group of Islands, sighted one suspected boat working in shut neighborhood of Barren Island. The ship launched one boarding get together to analyze the suspected vessel and when the ship’s boarding get together closed in on the suspected boat, 4 folks have been sighted within the boat. 

The folks sighted on the suspected boat, left the boat and took shelter on Barren Island. The ship reported the incident to the ANC Headquarters and on receiving constructive intelligence from the ship, the ANC Headquarters got here into motion and launched Ops Cucumber.

Post apprehension all of them together with all confiscated objects have been dropped at base camp, a listing of confiscated objects was ready and additional investigation was carried out. Two groups have been once more launched for additional search of remaining areas.

On twenty sixth January 2023 at 1500 hrs after finishing the combing completely, the whole Operation was referred to as off. Apprehended poachers together with troops have been embarked onboard ICGS Durgabai Deshmukh and ICGS Rajkiran and dropped at Port Blair. 

On twenty seventh January 2023, each ships reached the Coast Guard Jetty at 0620 hrs. Post completion of the handing over formalities, all poachers have been handed over to the police (Central Crime Station) for additional plan of action.
