In a targeted effort to assist livestock farmers and handle reproductive points in cattle, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services (AH&VS), A&N Administration, in collaboration with the ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (CIARI), Sri Vijaya Puram, carried out a Veterinary Health-cum-Infertility Camp on July 30, 2025, in villages underneath Wandoor and Humphreygunj Panchayats.
The camp was organized to deal with infertility—a key issue inflicting financial setbacks for dairy farmers—by providing skilled veterinary care and steering on enhancing animal reproductive well being.
A complete of 165 cattle have been examined throughout the camp, with 28 animals screened particularly for infertility. Of these, 10 have been handled for reproductive issues. Veterinary groups supplied diagnostic companies, remedies, and skilled recommendation, emphasizing the significance of balanced vitamin and correct reproductive administration practices to spice up fertility and milk manufacturing.
Farmers have been sensitized on fashionable animal husbandry strategies, together with feeding practices and breeding administration, geared toward enhancing reproductive effectivity and making certain sustainable livestock manufacturing.
The camp witnessed the participation of Dr. Perumal P, Senior Scientist, ICAR-CIARI; Dr. Lawhale Ninad Sahebrao, Senior Veterinary Officer; Dr. Zachariah George, Subject Matter Specialist, Krishi Vigyan Kendra; together with workers from the Veterinary Dispensary, Manglutan.
The initiative obtained an enthusiastic response from native farmers, reflecting the group’s dedication to enhancing livestock well being and productiveness. The Department of AH&VS has expressed its intent to proceed organizing such camps throughout the islands, in alignment with the A&N Administration’s broader imaginative and prescient for sustainable agriculture and meals safety.
