World Wetland Day (WWD) was noticed on February 2, 2026, with an consciousness programme geared toward educating college students concerning the significance of wetlands and biodiversity conservation. World Wetland Day is widely known yearly to commemorate the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands, signed on February 2, 1971, in Ramsar, Iran.
As a part of the observance, an consciousness lecture was organised on the Department of Science & Technology Awareness Hub for college kids of Government Middle School, Dollygunj. Dr. B. Sumit Kumar Rao, Entomologist (NVBDCP), graced the programme because the chief visitor and delivered an informative lecture highlighting the ecological significance of wetlands and the pressing have to preserve biodiversity.
The session witnessed lively participation from college students, with round 50 college students attending and interesting in interactive discussions through the programme. The initiative aimed to sensitise younger minds concerning the very important position wetlands play in sustaining ecological stability and supporting various types of life.
