The XVI Inter-Village Hodi Race (Canoe Race) Championship 2026 was efficiently held on Sunday at Chukchucha Village in Car Nicobar as a part of the Tribal Culture Games, showcasing the wealthy cultural heritage and sporting traditions of the Nicobarese neighborhood.
The occasion witnessed enthusiastic participation from villagers and opponents, with conventional canoes chopping throughout the waters amid cheers from the native crowd, reflecting robust neighborhood spirit and cultural delight.
Chief Secretary Chandra Bhushan Kumar graced the event because the chief visitor and formally flagged off the semi-finals and finals. The programme was additionally attended by Amit Kale, Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District; Rahul L. Nair, Superintendent of Police (D); and Naveen Kumar, Assistant Commissioner (HQ) and Project Officer (ITDP).
Following the occasion, a gathering was convened with villagers of Car Nicobar, members of the Tribal Council, and Heads of Offices and Departments. Various points and grievances raised by the area people have been mentioned intimately. The Chief Secretary directed all involved departments to deal with these points in coordination with the Deputy Commissioner to make sure well timed and efficient decision.
As a part of initiatives beneath the Integrated Tribal Development Programme (ITDP), the Chief Secretary introduced 100 books to the Chairman of the Tribal Council, Car Nicobar, aimed toward selling schooling and supporting information improvement amongst tribal communities.
The programme mirrored the Administration’s continued dedication to preserving tribal tradition, strengthening neighborhood engagement, and advancing academic improvement within the Nicobar district.
