The Chief Secretary of the A&N Administration, Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, on Sunday led islanders in paying wealthy tributes to the Great Andamanese who misplaced their lives within the historic ‘Battle of Aberdeen’ fought on May 17, 1859 between the British colonial rulers and the Great Andamanese neighborhood.
A solemn perform was organised by the Department of Art & Culture on the ‘Battle of Aberdeen’ Memorial positioned on the Water Sports Complex, Port Blair. On the event, the Chief Secretary laid a wreath on the memorial as a mark of respect to the Great Andamanese martyrs.
Floral tributes have been additionally provided by the Chairperson of SVPMC, Ms. Vasantha, senior officers of the A&N Administration, members of the Great Andamanese neighborhood and members of most people.
Later, the Chief Secretary interacted with members of the Great Andamanese tribe who have been current throughout the programme.
