In a bid to advertise secure and sanitary practices in fisheries, the Department of Fisheries, A&N Administration, in collaboration with NETFISH-MPEDA, Chennai, carried out a one-day coaching programme on ‘Capacity Building on Hygienic and Sanitary Procedures’ for members of the Scheduled Tribe group at Car Nicobar.
The programme was inaugurated within the presence of Mr. Lionald Nicomed, Chairman of the Tribal Council, Car Nicobar, who attended because the chief visitor. Mr. Martin Luther, Secretary, Tribal Council, was the visitor of honour. Also current had been Mr. Paul David, 1st Captain of Perka Village; Dr. Arulmoorthy, State Coordinator, NETFISH-MPEDA, Chennai; and officers from the Department of Fisheries.
In his handle, Mr. Lionald Nicomed counseled the initiative and emphasised the significance of hygienic fish dealing with practices to spice up revenue ranges and enhance entry to broader markets.
