The District Planning Committee (DPC) assembly of Nicobar District was held on September 30 and October 1 below the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar.
The assembly noticed lively participation from the Hon’ble Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, together with the Chairmen of assorted Tribal Councils of the district. Members of the DPC reviewed displays made by completely different line departments on their proposed Three-Year Action Plans (2026–27 to 2028–29).
During the periods, departments outlined their sector-wise priorities and developmental actions, with discussions centering on inclusive progress, infrastructure enhancement, socio-economic progress, and welfare of tribal communities. Special emphasis was laid on sustainable and people-centric planning.
The Member of Parliament and Tribal Council representatives counseled the District Administration’s efforts in formulating a complete roadmap for the district’s future and shared options for additional enchancment of the plans.
Concluding the assembly, the Deputy Commissioner thanked all members for his or her constructive contributions and guaranteed that the suggestions and observations made could be duly included into the ultimate Action Plan.
The profitable conduct of the assembly marks a key step towards strengthening participatory planning and guaranteeing coordinated growth in Nicobar District.
