New Delhi, Jan 23 (PTI) Ahead of Republic Day, the Delhi Police has busted an arms syndicate by arresting two males and recovering 34 pistols from their possession, officers stated on Monday.

The accused have been recognized as Naved Rana (21) and Saleem (39), each residents Shamli district in Uttar Pradesh, they stated.

The consignment of firearms was imagined to be delivered to a member of the Gogi gang, police stated.

The police acquired a tip-off on January 13 and carried out a raid at a spot on the Delhi-Jammu Road in Narela and nabbed Rana who had 10 pistols in his possession.

The police then recognized Rana’s supply — Saleem — who was arrested on Friday, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Ingit Pratap Singh stated.

Based on the inputs given by Saleem, an unlawful arms manufacturing unit was busted and large cache of firearms and instruments have been recovered on Saturday from a sugarcane subject at Kandhla village in Shamli district, the DCP stated.
