The case dates again to April 9, 2022, when an Unnatural Death (UD) case was initially registered at PS Bambooflat. The preliminary investigation was carried out by a Head Constable. However, upon receipt of the Post Mortem Examination (PME) and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) studies, the case was reclassified as a homicide case.
The investigation was then taken over by Inspector Okay. Abdul Nasir, the then Station House Officer (SHO) of PS Bambooflat. The accused, Peter Minj, was subsequently arrested, and all procedural formalities had been adopted.
Inspector Nasir led a meticulous investigation, piecing collectively crucial proof and reconstructing the sequence of occasions that led to the crime. After the investigation was accomplished, a chargesheet was filed and the case proceeded to trial.
On April 9, 2025, the Hon’ble Sessions Judge pronounced the decision, convicting Peter Minj below Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sentencing him to rigorous life imprisonment together with a tremendous of ₹10,000. Additionally, the courtroom awarded him three years of rigorous imprisonment below Section 201 IPC for tampering with proof.
