As a part of its livelihood promotion initiatives, the Community Development Block Prothrapur underneath the Directorate of Rural Development, Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), A&N Administration, inaugurated a Livestock Service Centre (LSC) and two poultry shelters at Beodnabad Gram Panchayat to strengthen poultry-based livelihood alternatives for Self Help Group (SHG) members.
The services have been inaugurated by Dr. Apurva Sharma, Director, RD/Panch, underneath the Integrated Farming Cluster (IFC) initiative of DAY-NRLM and the VB G-RAM-G scheme. Speaking on the event, Dr. Sharma appreciated the initiative and urged SHG members to make optimum use of the Livestock Service Centre and poultry shelters to broaden poultry-based enterprises and enhance their livelihoods.
The Livestock Service Centre, established at Rangachang Ward No. 4, has been set as much as assist poultry-based livelihood actions amongst SHG members. The centre features a hatchery unit with the capability to incubate 240 eggs at a time, guaranteeing the supply of high quality chicks whereas offering livestock assist companies to SHGs and native farmers.
According to the Directorate, SHG members from Beodnabad, Calicut and Sippighat Gram Panchayats engaged in livestock rearing are anticipated to profit from the power. The centre is anticipated to advertise poultry farming, improve family incomes and create sustainable livelihood alternatives.
The two poultry shelters, constructed underneath the VB G-RAM-G scheme, are supposed to assist SHG members of Beodnabad Gram Panchayat in adopting poultry farming on a sustainable foundation. Each shelter has been constructed at an approximate price of ₹1.50 lakh, producing almost 130 person-days of employment throughout development. Designed to accommodate as much as 50 birds every, the shelters present the infrastructure required for scientific poultry rearing, enabling SHG members to generate common revenue, enhance dietary safety and grow to be economically self-reliant.
The Directorate additional said that extra livestock shelters are proposed to be constructed sooner or later by way of the convergence of the DAY-NRLM and VB G-RAM-G schemes underneath the Rural Development Department.
The inauguration programme was attended by Ms. Gurjeet Kaur, Block Development Officer, Prothrapur; Mr. R. Paramasivam, Pradhan of GP Beodnabad; State Nodal Officers, Block and Panchayat officers, SHG members and native villagers.
