A chakka jam was organised at Kalighat Bazar (Diglipur Sub-Division) on twenty first August 2025, underneath the management of Mr. Mithun Das, Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Ramnagar, drawing giant participation from residents and Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) representatives. The protest was supported by a number of native leaders, together with Mr. Asit Mondal, Pradhan Kalighat, Ms. Pratima Roy, Pradhan Nabagram, Mr. Srivas Das, Adhyaksh Zilla Parishad – N & M Andaman, Ms. Suniti Halder, Zilla Parishad Member and State Secretary BJP Andaman, Mr. Shyamal Bowmik, Pradhan R.Ok. Gram, and Ms. Alpana Biswas, President Diglipur BJP, amongst others.
The chakka jam was staged to press for a number of long-pending public calls for, notably:
– Posting of everlasting EE/AE on the Electricity Office, Sitanagar.
– Installation of a devoted transformer at Kalighat.
– Strengthening of well being companies at Kalighat PHC and its sub-centres.
– Improved BSNL connectivity and early commissioning of pending towers.
During the protest, involved officers engaged with the demonstrators and issued assurances. The Assistant Commissioner, Diglipur, together with the SE (Electricity), assured {that a} assembly with PRIs can be convened shortly to prioritise the posting of normal EE and AEs on the Diglipur Electricity workplace. The AE (T/D), Sitanagar (In-charge), offered written assurance addressing fundamental ground-level points.
On the healthcare entrance, the Medical Officer In-charge of Kalighat PHC confirmed in writing that each one posted medical employees would stay at their designated obligation stations and wouldn’t be deputed elsewhere. Meanwhile, the SDO, BSNL Diglipur, assured the set up of a 2G community at Ramnagar and promised that the Nishintapur BSNL tower can be made operational by the tip of September.
With these commitments—each written and verbal—the chakka jam concluded peacefully. However, PRI leaders underlined that they might intently monitor the progress of the assurances and warned that additional protests could possibly be launched if the guarantees aren’t fulfilled throughout the assured timelines.
