Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Hon’ble Member of Parliament from the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, has written to Union Home Minister Mr. Amit Shah, requesting swift motion for the revival and development of the long-pending Mount Manipur Memorial at an acceptable location in South Andaman.
In his letter, the MP highlighted that the memorial challenge was conceived through the Home Minister’s go to to the islands on seventeenth October 2021, when Mount Harriet was formally renamed as Mount Manipur to honour the 23 Manipuri freedom fighters of the Anglo-Manipur War of 1891, together with Maharaja Kulachandra Dhwaja Singh, who have been exiled to the islands throughout British colonial rule.
