An Off-Site Emergency Response Drill simulating a hearth incident was performed at Hope Town Jetty close to the manifold on July 17 by the Bottling Plant of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL), Hope Town, Bambooflat, in coordination with the Directorate of Disaster Management, A&N Police, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), A&N Fire & Emergency Services, and the Directorate of Health Services.
The train recreated a practical fireplace emergency state of affairs to evaluate the preparedness and response capabilities of the IOCL staff and different collaborating businesses. The drill was geared toward evaluating inter-agency coordination and the effectiveness of the emergency response system throughout a simulated fireplace incident.
As a part of the train, the IOCL Bottling Plant activated its emergency response mechanism instantly after receiving details about the simulated fireplace at Hope Town Jetty close to the manifold. The incident was promptly reported to the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS), State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), and the Fire and Health Control Rooms.
Meanwhile, IOCL personnel initiated measures to include the simulated fireplace whereas the Fire & Emergency Services staff rushed to the location with fireplace tenders and tools to deliver the scenario below management.
The mock drill concluded at 4 pm and was adopted by a debriefing session throughout which observers reviewed the train, highlighted their observations, and recognized gaps and areas requiring enchancment within the emergency response mechanism.
