The Pawn to Queen Chess Club was formally inaugurated on February 2, 2026, on the Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Sri Vijaya Puram, with enthusiastic participation from college students and lecturers.
The initiative goals to advertise the sport of chess amongst college students by offering structured coaching, common apply classes, and alternatives to take part in inter-school and higher-level tournaments, thereby encouraging strategic considering and mental growth.
The membership was inaugurated by Ms. Sangeeta Chand, Principal of GMSSS, who made the ceremonial first transfer on the chessboard towards S. Bhavishya, a Class VI pupil of the college and a promising younger chess participant. On the event, the Principal felicitated Bhavishya in recognition of her notable achievements in chess and inspired college students to take up the sport with dedication.
